The Congress Center Basel

Basel, located in Switzerland at the heart of Europe, is a congress city with conveniently situated facilities. The Congress Center Basel enjoys a downtown location, situated directly adjacent to Basel Exhibition Centre. The historic old town, the shopping areas and the many museums and parks can be reached comfortably on foot or in a few minutes by public transport. The Congress Center Basel and its facilities are located directly alongside Messe Exhibition. ICMM 2019 Delegate Transportation in Switzerland

The ICMM 2019 Congress Organisation will ensure transportation of registered ICMM 2019 delegates who have notified their specific arrival dates / times and flight numbers at the 3 major airport (Zurich, Basel, Geneva). Look out for the ICMM 2019 Hospitality Desks.

Badges

A name badge will be provided on-site with your registration documents. Name badges must be visible and used at all times anywhere within the Congress Centre.

Badges must also be worn during all social events including the Excursions on the Social Day

Congress accreditation

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is a programme of educational activities to guarantee the maintenance and upgrading of knowledge, skills and competence following completion of postgraduate training. CME Credits are recognized by most national CME-authorities in Europe and will be featured on the certificate.

Congress material

The Congress documents should be collected on-site at the Registration Desk in Hall 5 during opening hours, at the  Congress Centre.

Currency and credit cards

The Swiss Franc is the currency and legal tender of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. One Swiss Franc is subdivided into 100 cents. Coins consist of 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 Swiss Franc, 2 Swiss Francs and 5 Swiss Francs. Note denominations are 10 Francs, 20 Francs, 50 Francs, 100 Francs, 200 Francs and 1000 Francs.

Current (May 2019) exchange rate: 1 USD = 1.06 Swiss Francs, 1 Euro = 1.17 Swiss Francs.

Foreign bank notes and traveler’s checks can be converted into Swiss Francs at the hotel, foreign exchange banks and other authorized money exchange outlets. The exchange rate is subject to market fluctuations. Most major credit cards are accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants. VISA and MasterCard are accepted at the Congress Registration Desk. Personal or company cheques are not accepted at the registration desk.

Exhibition information

The ICMM 2019 Exhibition, featuring commercial displays of International Organisations, Pharmaceutical Companies, Media Publishers and Scientific Societies, will be located in Hall 4.1. As always, the Exhibition Hall will host the catering stations.

Food & beverage

Coffee/tea and light snacks during official breaks are included in the registration fees and will be served around the Exhibition Area. Lunch will be served in the centrally located catering court in the Exhibition Area. On Wednesday 22 May 2019, no catering will be served as the Exhibition and Congress are closed due to the Social Day.

Languages

English is the official Congress language. Translations into French will be provided.

Lost and found

A lost-and-found service will be available at the help desk at the Main Entrance.

Delegates are kindly requested to keep their mobile phones in silence mode in the rooms where scientific and educational sessions are being held, as well as during Poster Sessions.

Photographing and recording

Photographing, audio taping, video recording, digital taping or any other form of recording for commercial use is strictly prohibited in the session rooms and Poster Area. The copyright of the scientific contributions is to the 43rd ICMM World Congress on Military Medicine 2019 (ICMM 2019). An official photographer will be taking pictures throughout the congress.

Posters

Posters are located in the Exhibition Area (Hall 4.1). Please contact the Poster Desk (in the Poster Area) for any information. To get the necessary material, a table is set-up within the Poster Area. The authors must be present in front of their posters during Poster viewing for free discussion.

Smoking policy

The ICMM 2019 Congress is a non-smoking event. It is forbidden to smoke in the Congress Venue, including the Exhibition & Poster Area.

Speaker’s preview room

The Speakers’ Preview Room will be located in Room Rio, on Level 2 of the congress venue. Speakers are kindly requested to hand in their PC formatted USB keys (PowerPoint presenta­tions) at the Speaker’s Preview Room centre at least two hours before their session or the day before for early morning presentations. All conference rooms contain state-of-the-art technical equipment.

Restaurant prices usually include service charges, but a reward for good services is always appreciated.
